Freedom in Christ

let-freedom-ring freedom-in-christ elizabeth-george jim-georgeIf you’ve seen the movie Braveheart, you’ll recall William Wallace loudly proclaimed the word, “Freedom!” The founding fathers of the United States of America pronounced it on July 4, 1776. Are you declaring the freedom God has given you in your life? The Lord says that the greatest kind of freedom possible belongs to His children. We read this truth in God’s Word.

Scriptures about Freedom

“…the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” (Romans 6:22)

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

Let Freedom Ring!

Jesus came so we could experience freedom. Not political or personal freedoms we enjoy, but freedom from sin. Whatever the situation and circumstances people of the world suffer–we are free in Christ. That is reason to rejoice and to share this truth with others!

People should never doubt where our faith lies. Along with being friendly and caring, we’re to be bold and to speak about our faith in Jesus Christ. It was the apostle Paul’s desire “that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3). If you don’t already, begin to pray that God will give you opportunities to talk to others about your Savior. There’s no greater gift than sharing about the salvation and freedom offered through Jesus.

RESPOND

Lord, I want other people to experience Your freedom through Christ. Show me who I can minister to. Please help me be prepared, and give me the words to speak. Amen.

I’ve made a life-long study of time and life management. This subject became so interesting to me because the first 30 years of my life, and early stages of marriage, were characterized by miss-management, lack of direction, and frenzied frustration.

One of my favorite words in the English language is “bittersweet.” It’s sort of like the well-known announcement, “I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?” This picturesque term always reminds me that many occurrences in life fall simultaneously into the glad/sad category, bringing forth both emotions at once.
