Over the Christmas break, kids will be out of school, family will be on vacation, and guests will be in and out of our home … which means the messes will be more frequent and the cleaning doubled. We get to choose our attitude toward this.
Would you describe what goes on in your home as “heaven on earth”? That’s quite an expression, isn’t it? Heaven on earth! Do you know that your home life is meant to be exactly that?
The Bible uses home life and marriage as illustrations of God’s relationship with His church, with the people who choose to follow Him. And when you live out your God-ordained roles and fulfill your God-given assignments others take notice and see proof of our special relationship with the Lord.
You have the privilege of presenting a picture of what heaven will be like to those around you. When you pursue with passion and purpose God’s design for a woman, a homemaker, a wife, a mother, you establish a home that reflects the order and beauty of life in heaven. An amazing opportunity, isn’t it?
But maybe you’re thinking, “I’m tired of doing dishes, sweeping and vacuuming floors, dusting, picking up after other people!” I can so relate. But it is worth it! Or at least it can be.
You and I know that love is the world’s most powerful motivator. So love your home—love being there and love managing it, watching over it, keeping it, and, yes, cleaning up the mess. Love will enable you and empower you to tackle it, master it, and excel at it. Turn to the Lord to fire up your passion in your heart to manage your home His way...in a loving, serving, sacrificial capacity.
No task will be too difficult and no job will be meaningless with Him as the foundation.
It took me a while to discover there’s no greater responsibility and privilege in this world than to make a house a home. I know that takes work, which is not always appreciated. I truly honor what it takes to be a woman, a wife, and a mother today and I want to give you two presents right now: the gift of encouragement...and applause for a job well done in caring for your home.
Thank you for all you do to take care of yourself and your family. I pray that God will continue to bless you richly.
RESPOND
Lord, I thank You for the house I call home. Give me insight and wisdom in making my home reflect Your presence. You are welcome here! Amen.

I’ve heard it said that you can tell the spiritual maturity of a man by looking at his bank account or his credit card statements. Well, how do yours look? What do they reveal about you and your spiritual maturity? What would another person see if they were allowed a peek at your accounts?
