Keeping a Prayer Journal—Teen Tuesday

Keeping a Prayer Journal—Teen TuesdayWhat is your #1 problem today? What makes your heart heavy? Do you worry about your family’s well-being? Is a friend struggling? Have you been feeling left out at school? Whatever it is, prayer is the answer.

Begin the Day with Prayer

The Bible says to “cast” your problems and burdens on your heavenly Father. Isn’t that absolutely great? You get to say to God, “Take all of this stuff from me!” When you do this, you’re putting “impossible” problems into His powerful hands. God will take care of them...as only He can.

When you begin each day by giving all the cares of your life to God in prayer, you’ll feel the freedom of having a weight lifted from your shoulders and your heart.

Begin a Prayer List

Have you ever been hungry for prayer? A good way to grow in faith in God is to keep a prayer list. Today’s a perfect day to start one. A journal will fuel and feed a deep hunger for this time of talking to God. This will help you remember what to pray for and inspire you to pray more passionately. When you see and write down how God answers each prayer, your faith will soar!

Your list may be short at first, but soon your mind and heart will be filled with more physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to bring to God. He’s always listening. Remember to take time to listen for His responses during your quiet time and throughout the process of discovering His will.

As your connection with Jesus grows, you’ll be eager to lift up concerns for family, friends, and yourself to Him each day. And when God answers your prayers, you’ll be in awe.

RESPOND

Lord, I’ll start my first prayer list with this prayer for growth in my own faith and prayerlife: I give You everything that weighs me down. Sometimes I think it is up to me to carryeverything that comes my way. But You are offering to take it all on and deal with everyproblem...even the really hard stuff. Here it is, God. Take it all. Thank You! I can’t wait to talk to You and to listen as You answer each of my prayers. Amen.

How did men and women in the Bible accomplish great things for God? There wasn’t any secret formula or bestselling book on success for them. In fact, they were ordinary people like you and me. What made them effective was their willingness to obey God—one decision at a time.

Power in Prayer
Power in Prayer

There are few things that can change a marriage the way prayer can. While I was an associate pastor, a couple came to my office for marriage counseling. After we pinpointed several areas of concern in their marriage that needed their attention, I asked the husband to commit the couple’s desires to the Lord. As the man finished praying, I looked up to discover that his wife was crying. She explained through her tears that this was the first time in ten years of marriage that they had prayed together as a couple!
