Think a minute about the things you worry about. What’s at the top of your worry list for today? Then look at one of God’s guidelines for contentment in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” And here’s another great guideline in verses 11 through 13, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Thank the Lord that contentment is yours when you pray! Then take another look at your list of wants and worries. How will you put the scriptures from Philippians 4 to work the next time you worry?
God does not want you to waste your precious time and energy on worry. Instead, turn to Him! “He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness” (Psalm 107:9).

I’ve heard it said that you can tell the spiritual maturity of a man by looking at his bank account or his credit card statements. Well, how do yours look? What do they reveal about you and your spiritual maturity? What would another person see if they were allowed a peek at your accounts?
