From Jim’s Heart—
You have a choice between two attitudes when you are on the job. You can go with an attitude of taking from your work whatever is needed for your well-being. This attitude perceives the organization and its people as existing to serve you.
Or you can go to work with the attitude that says, “What can I put into this organization or job?” This attitude seeks to make the organization better—cultivating a more ideal work environment in which others are helped to live more satisfying lives. If that is your goal, then you will bring glory to God by fulfilling the role of a Christian servant…the role to which the Lord has called you. As the apostle Paul stated simply—and directly,
“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men,
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.
It is the Lord Christ whom you serve” (Colossians 3:23-24).
God, occasionally I seem to think it’s all about me. Thank You for redirecting my focus. You will take care of all my needs, so today I’ll focus on what I can do for others. Amen.
