God’s Will For Your Life

The older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers,
not given to much wine, teachers of good things—
that they admonish the young women to love their husbands,
to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers,
good, obedient to their own husbands,
that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
(Titus 2:3-5)

To walk through life as a woman of wisdom, knowing what God sets down in His Word as His priorities will direct your days and your choices. Titus 2:3-5 is all about the way God wants His women to live their life, the relationships He wants us to establish and improve, and the character qualities He wants us to pursue.

And what are our priorities? We are to put our energies to work in such areas as godly behavior and reverence, godly speech (which includes no gossip!), personal discipline (moderation in all things), encouraging and instructing other women, family love toward husband and children, wisdom and sensibility, homemaking, purity, goodness, and obedience to husbands.

Summed up, these 10 essentials set three lifetime and lifelong goals for you:

Goal #1: Cultivate godly conduct and behavior.
Goal #2: Cultivate family relationships that honor the Lord.
Goal #3: Cultivate godly character qualities.

These goals encompass what God has in mind for you. They are the 10 essentials for His women. They reveal His will for your life. Aren’t you glad God only gave us 10 priorities—not a hundred?

The attitude of Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, demonstrated for us the meaning of a heart devoted to God. What did Mary do that moved our Savior to praise her?

One of my favorite words in the English language is “bittersweet.” It’s sort of like the well-known announcement, “I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?” This picturesque term always reminds me that many occurrences in life fall simultaneously into the glad/sad category, bringing forth both emotions at once.
