Being God’s Kind of Wife

god's kind of wifeThe choices you make as a wife make all the difference. But the good news is that, as God’s child you have the indwelling Holy Spirit. He will produce in you His fruit of the Spirit as you walk in obedience to Him. You can oh-so-subtly slip into nagging, whining, complaining, arguing, and criticizing until, over time, you actually become a “contentious” wife. Or you can daily aspire to be the excellent, noble, virtuous, worthy wife God describes and exalts in the book of Proverbs.

Today, as you pray for yourself as a wife and for your husband as someone God asks you to love (Titus 2:4), choose to be God’s kind of wife. Choose to put your husband first. Choose to bless him, nurture him, build him up, and help him—to love him to pieces.

Open your soul and pray for him and his day.
Open your heart and love him with Christ’s love.
Open your eyes and see him as God’s perfect gift to you.
Open your mouth and praise him for his strengths and diligence.
Open your hands and tend to his care and needs.
Open your arms and embrace him as your teammate and leader, your best friend, your partner for life.

Make your marriage a good thing.

A woman’s day is full of challenges and opportunities. Let the wisdom of God show you how to thrive through it all in Elizabeth’s book, Proverbs for a Women’s Day.

God’s Purpose is in the Present

As a young mother, I endeavored to “train a child in the way he should go,” so that “when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). A decade later, however, I wasn’t reaping the results I had expected. Angrily, I said to God, “But this isn’t the way it was supposed to be! This isn’t the way it went for this family here or that family over there. And this isn’t the way it was supposed to be for my family!”
